Artifical Pancreas Treatmen Shows Result

artificial pancreas developmentRecent study on artificial pancreas treatment has just been released by English researchers. It is said that this artificial organ designed for people with diabetes type 1 can increase blood sugar level control and lower the risk of hypoglycemia

Analyzed data shows that the blood glucose average of artificial pancreas users can reach the target, or increased by 28%. The study itself was conducted by a team from theUniversityofCambridgeled by Dr. Roman Hovorka.

Types of Diabetes Neuropathy

Diabetes could come along with neuropathy, one of diabetes complications. Diabetes neuropathy is a nerve disorder due to high blood sugar that occurs in a long time. There 4 types of neuropathy.

1. Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy, also called symmetrical distal neuropathy, is a nerve damaged located in the arms and feet. Usually, feet get affected first than the arms. Some symptoms of peripheral neuropathy are:

  • numbness to temperature or pain.
  • tingling, burning or punctured sensation.
  • sharp pains or cramps.
  • extreme sensitivity to touch, even light touch.
  • loss of balance and coordination.

Those symptoms usually get worse at night. Peripheral neuropathy can also causes muscle weakness and loss of reflex, especially in the ankle. This is why diabetic suffers from this kind of complication walks oddly. Read more…
